This weekend we set off to discover another amazing and one of my top favourite places in the world - I could compare it to "the Mediterranean of the Pacific" - the Tasman Nelson region with its amazing landscapes and beaches, and its cultural and economic hub, Sunny Nelson.

Today I am bringing you a beautiful sunrise over the Rangitoto volcano in Auckland. The first rays of light start to shine around 6 am at this time of the year over the horizon. Spring equinox was actually today - meaning day and night are about equal in length all around the world, and the days are getting longer day by day. We are heading more and more into spring here, while the Northern Hemisphere is gearing up for some of the last sunny days of autumn.
I have to admit that I am an absolute beach lover. There is nothing compared to this feeling of joy I feel when I walk on a beach. Watching the rippling waves wash the shore. Their white edges curl and smoothen by the time they reach the shallow bays. Watch the horizon where the clear blue sky meets the wild water - often in mist. Find the reflection of the puffy clouds under me. Hunt for treasures and maze at the shape and colour of each shell. Pick them up, read their story.

We love hiking! We love nature! Happily, we have friends who love hiking and nature, too. :) They took us to our 1st real walk since we are "back" to New Zealand, a really great 10km, the Te Henga Walkway just north-west of Auckland. It is incredible that within less than an hour’s drive, you can literally escape the buzz of a big city and find yourself in the middle of some of the wildest beaches of the West Coast, with some jaw-dropping vistas over the cliffs and plenty of green bush around you. Oh how much I missed this feeling! New Zealand, I love you, have I told you? :)

Yesss, it's been a month already. One month ago. We packed up some essential stuff, got on the plane in full swing European summer, flew some 30 hours, crossed the whole world and arrived to our destination: winter wonderland in the Southern Hemisphere. And to my moments of inspiration :)
Here are 13 little stories, impressions & a recap of our 1st month in New Zealand.
Still inspired by the breathtaking beaches here in New Zealand. I found a yoga studio close by and every time I go for a workout, I walk by the beach. Sometimes it rains, sometimes it shines. But the ocean is just amazing every time I walk by. The heart & body warming morning sunshine. Or the mesmerizing sunsets. Or the drops of rain falling on my cheeks. Or the waves - today for example, I got splashed by the waves and really wet :)
But anyways, yoga is inspiring. At least for me. Good for the body and soul. Lucky enough, Auckland has a great and diverse yoga scene, and a variety of styles to offer. I cannot wait till summer and find a cool beach yoga session, too... This is when I started browsing the net and rediscovered my absolute favourite beach yoga video :) With 14,000 km of pure coastline and refreshing cool ocean waters, no wonder New Zealand is a great place for mussels to grow. The diversity is amazing, especially when it comes to colors. And luckily for us, seafood, too... :) |
