Growth. Ideal conditions are sought and appreciated in order to fully enjoy the beautiful, colourful blooms and the healthy, ripe fruits. When the time comes. The right time. In the meantime, there is the process. The amazing process when things develop. When things are in the making. The seeds are sown. And we enjoy to watch them grow...
...She has been spending the past few weeks discovering her new garden. She arrived in the best moment. Spring. And a new beginning. And a secret garden, full of little gems and treasures. All waiting to be noticed, revealed, studied, understood, one by one, day by day, sunshine after rain. A secret garden, with plenty of more space to be used, just waiting for her to indulge in a new pastime. To plant. To dig. To create. To care for. To love. To watch things grow. Grow through life. In a timeless everness. Taking with her a secret message every time she closed the door behind. A secret message of nature. A lesson for life.

We spent the last weekend in Awhi Farm - a centre for sustainable practice. The name in Maori means "to take care of", "to nurture". It is a little paradise in the middle of nature. Isolated from the "modern, hight tech world". No electricity, maybe just some solar panels. No heating, just your sleeping bag. No light at night, just the moon and the shining stars above you, and in the morning, waking you up, the first ray of light. Compost toilet or the bush. Shower only at the Squash Club nearby, or at the natural hot pools. No charger for your phones, but real birds chirping around. No supermarket on the corner, yet a fascinating food forest and hens that nourish you. Just pure nature.
You loose connectivity, yet reconnect. With the people around you. With yourself. Simplicity, at its best. With 14,000 km of pure coastline and refreshing cool ocean waters, no wonder New Zealand is a great place for mussels to grow. The diversity is amazing, especially when it comes to colors. And luckily for us, seafood, too... :) An amazing way to enjoy lunch on a Saturday - take away Fish & Chips on the beach with the view over Rangitoto volcano. Today's pick was Tarakihi and Hoki nicely wrapped up in a big paper with chips and tartare sauce. And Lemonade :)
Can you spot the fish on the seafood palette? :) |
